As part of the Steeltown Film Factory Competition, the evening will be an exciting event that includes screening some behind the scenes footage as well as a Q&A with cast and crew. FIlmed in Pittsburgh in the summer of 2013, MY DATE WITH ADAM is the award-winning script for the Steeltown Film Factory. This short romantic comedy is about wedding planner on a quest for the perfect man. She uses an internet dating site to find him, but he may be not exactly what he appears to be. Post-production is well underway with a rough edit almost firmly place. Next comes the score, special fx, sound fx, color correction and credits. This is all in preparation for the film's premiere at The Three Rivers Film Festival in November. The last shot was our leads on a romantic walk through Highland Park, a fitting end to this little romantic comedy. Dennis enjoyed his first experience helming a movie and begins the post-production process. The film will debut in the Three Rivers Film Festival in November. Three finalists had their three scripts read by CMU School of Drama students and each finalist presented on why they should win the Ellan Weiss Kander award and funding to make their short film. Dennis is pleased to announce that his short script MY DATE WITH ADAM has received the Ellen Weiss Kander Award and he has been given $20,000 to produce and film his short movie. Dennis will direct the movie and plans to shoot this summer in Pittsburgh in various locations. The movie will debut at the Three Rivers Film Festival in Pittsburgh in November. Click here for the Post-Gazette article. ![]() Dennis' short screenplay MY DATE WITH ADAM was pitched at the Film Factory event at Point Park Theater on Saturday, April 20th and moved on to the next round as one of the three Finalists. Dennis will now do his final pitch and hear the draft of the script read by Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama students at the Philip Chosky Theater on Saturday, May 11th for the final event "And The Winner is...". After the reading and pitch, panelists will give feedback and deliberate who will receive the award. Past panelists have included actor David Conrad (Ghost Whisperer, Wedding Crashers), producer Chris Moore (Good Will Hunting, Promised Land), producer Bernie Goldmann (300) and director Jamie Widdoes (Two and a Half Men). The grand prize package is a trip to Hollywood and up to $30,000 of funding to produce and shoot the short film in the western Pennsylvania area during the summer or fall of 2013. His script was selected out of a record number of 256 entrants. On Saturday, April 20th, Dennis will be joined by the other four semifinalists in a "Director's Pitch" event at Point Park University in the GRW Theater. They will present for three panelists--Chris Keyser, President of the Writers Guild of America, West and producers Gretchen J. Berg and Aaron Harberts.
