Dennis is very excited to start teaching a new class called "Playing Shakespeare" for adults this fall at SPAC School of the Arts. It is heavily inspired by the late, great teacher of Shakespeare and mentor, John Basil, as well as techniques picked up over the years working on the plays and coaching students.
Are you curious about Shakespeare but feel overwhelmed by the language? Or maybe you love watching Shakespeare in the Park but wonder how actors bring those famous lines to life? This class is a fun, low-pressure way to dive into acting through the world of the Bard. Through warmups, ensemble games, and playful exploration, you’ll unlock practical methods to making those poetic words feel clear, exciting, and alive. From clowns to kings, you’ll explore bold characters working on scenes and soliloquys while connecting with others in a welcoming, creative space. No experience needed – Just bring you enthusiasm, curiosity and willingness to play! The class wraps up with a casual sharing for friends and family to celebrate what you’ve discovered. The class begins on Thursday September 18th and will run every Thursday night from 6-7:30 until November 20th.
